WELCOME
to Perry County

Welcome to Perry County, located in the heart of Pennsylvania. Two of Pennsylvania’s major waterways, the Susquehanna and the Juniata, meet here before the Susquehanna continues its journey to the Chesapeake Bay. Bounded by mountains to the North, South, and West, the rolling hills of Perry County are overlaid with fertile farmland and small communities that have served as business centers for the surrounding farms and homesteads. Many of these communities grew up around mills and the waterways that provided their power. Perry County is home to one of the state’s largest collections of covered bridges – fourteen – many of which are still in use. They are just one of the county’s many historical architectural attractions. Recreational opportunities abound here, thanks to three state parks, the Tuscarora State Forest, tons of state gameland and miles of waterways perfect for fishing, kayaking and boating. Campgrounds line our rivers giving thousands of people the opportunity to relax and cookout on the banks.

Take time to explore all of our communities. Newport is home to the county’s largest concentration of retailers, but stores can be found scattered throughout the county’s country roads and communities. New Bloomfield is the county seat and Marysville is home to the largest population in Perry County.
