P ositioned along Shermans Creek, the charming borough of Blain welcomes visitors cresting the hill on Route 274 west with picturesque views of its historic hamlet. Traffic flows steadily with cars, tractors, trucks, and Amish buggies, reflecting the area’s vibrant rural life.

Founded around the gristmill built by James Blain in 1777, the mill served the surrounding farming community for nearly two centuries, anchoring the town’s growth.

Today, Blain and its surrounding area are home to approximately 230 residents and feature thriving businesses offering essentials and personal services, seven churches, West Perry School District facilities, and stunning farms amid unspoiled countryside in every direction. Annual events like Sherman’s Valley Heritage Days celebrate the community’s agricultural roots.
